Leslie Henderson

Leslie Marie Hatcher was born in Louisville, Mississippi, and grew up in the small community of Nania Wayia in Winston County. She attended school at Neshoba Central through the 10th grade, then transferred to the Mississippi School for Math and Science where she graduated in 1994. She then attended Mississippi State University, completing her B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1998. During that time she worked briefly as an intern at DuPont in DeLisle, MS.
Leslie remained at MSU for 2 more years to complete her M. S. Degree in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis on bio-remediation of hazardous waste. Upon graduation, she accepted a position with Mississippi Polymer Technologies (MPT), located near Pearlington, MS. She worked at MPT as a Research Engineer and Quality Assurance Manager for 5 years. During this time Leslie became involved in home brewing and started experimenting with different styles of beer.
In 2003, Leslie completed her formal brewing education with the American Brewer's Guild's course in Intensive Brewing Science. She followed the course work with a 3-month internship at Crescent City Brew House in New Orleans. Shortly after completing this training, she began the process of building Lazy Magnolia. In June of 2005, Leslie left Mississippi Polymer Technologies to operate Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company full time.
Leslie married Mark Henderson in 1997. They live in Kiln, MS, very close to the brewery.
Mark Henderson

Born in Cleveland, MS, in 1973, Mark graduated from Mississippi State University in 1995 and 1997 (took him twice to get it right). His technical training is in electrical engineering with a specialization in control systems and automation. Before starting Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company with Leslie, Mark kept himself occupied with designing and building gadgets. Since starting Lazy Magnolia, Mark has been involved heavily in the financial considerations, capital assessment, investor relations, and new business development.
Matt McKiernan

Matt McKiernan was born in Stamford, Connecticut. He attended High School at Fairfield College Preparatory School in Fairfield, Connecticut. Upon graduation in 1993, Matt attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated in 1997 with a B.A. Degree in Sociology and a Minor in Theological Studies.
Shortly after graduation, Matt made the decision to move to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, largely based on the advice of good friend and former boss, Jeff Favre. As Matt's boss at Brett Favre's Steakhouse in Milwaukee, Jeff established a network of connections for Matt to get his feet on the ground in Mississippi.
Matt began his teaching career in 1999 at Our Lady Academy in Bay St. Louis. He spent two years teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade Religion and held various coaching positions. He then moved across the street to St. Stanislaus College Preparatory School and spent three years teaching Religion at the 11th and 12th grade level.
Matt joined the Lazy Magnolia team as the first employee in May of 2005. Matt's role in Marketing keeps him on the road throughout the entire State of Mississippi, where he has had the pleasure and task of introducing Mississippi's beer to new markets and distributors. On the road, Matt represents Lazy Magnolia at various festivals, community events and tasting sessions throughout the year.
Matt resides in Bay St. Louis, MS.
Gar Hatcher

Gar was born and raised in the woods of East Central Mississippi, attending Neshoba Central through middle school. He graduated from Starkville High School in 1999. After graduation, Gar immersed himself in the hospitality industry in Starkville and later in Jackson where he became an experienced bartender and manager.
Looking for a change of pace, he joined Lazy Magnolia in August, 2005. Hurricane Katrina hit only 4 weeks after he started work and all of his earthly possessions were flooded away. He stayed with the Lazy Magnolia team and was instrumental in getting the brewery back up and running. Gar lives in Bay St. Louis, MS.
