School at Fairfield College Preparatory School in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Upon graduation in 1993, Matt attended Marquette University in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. He graduated in 1997 with a B.A. Degree in Sociology and a

Shortly after graduation, Matt made the decision to move to the Mississippi
Gulf Coast, largely based on the advice of good friend and former boss, Jeff
Favre. As Matt’s boss at Brett Favre’s Steakhouse in Milwaukee, Jeff
established a network of connections for Matt to get his feet on the ground in
Mississippi.
Matt began his teaching career in 1999 at Our Lady Academy in Bay St.
Louis. He spent two years teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade Religion and held
various coaching positions. He then moved across the street to St. Stanislaus
College Preparatory School and spent three years teaching Religion at the
11th and 12th grade level.

Matt joined the Lazy Magnolia team as the first
employee in May of 2005. Matt’s role in
Marketing keeps him on the road throughout the
entire State of Mississippi, where he has had the
pleasure and task of introducing Mississippi’s
beer to new markets and distributors. On the
road, Matt represents Lazy Magnolia at various
festivals, community events and tasting sessions
throughout the year.
Matt resides in Bay St. Louis, MS.
Gar Hatcher, Head Brewer
Gar was born and raised in the woods of East Central Mississippi,
attending Neshoba Central through middle school. He graduated
from Starkville High School in 1999. After graduation, Gar
immersed himself in the hospitality industry in Starkville and later in
Jackson where he became an experienced bartender and manager.
Looking for a change of pace, he joined Lazy Magnolia in August,
2005. Hurricane Katrina hit only 4 weeks after he started work
and all of his earthly possessions were flooded away. He stayed
with the Lazy Magnolia team and was instrumental in getting the
brewery back up and running. Gar lives in Bay St. Louis, MS.
