Blue Heron Blue Heron is a Kristal Weizen beer— this is a filtered European style wheat ale characterized by very pronounced fruity and spicy flavors and aromas. Our recipe uses a traditional mix of wheat and barley processed in the German fashion. However, the distinctive flavors and aromas are a result of the yeast.

During fermentation, the yeast not only produce alcohol but also hundreds of different types of
esters and high alcohols that are recognized as bananas, pears, citrus fruits, cloves, nutmeg, and
honey. It is truly an explosion of flavors. Some people like to add a slice of orange or lemon to
the beer. Blue Heron has a medium straw color.
Blue Heron is in a class of beers that keeps growing in popularity as more people try craft
beers. It is especially appealing to people who “don’t like beer,” people who enjoy wine, and
people who have traveled extensively (military). Blue Heron represents a significant portion of
our sales and has proven to be highly popular in fine food establishments. It has been
successfully served at champagne brunches in lieu of the standard Mimosa.
Blue Heron should certainly be a selection in any establishment that wishes to offer a quality
selection of different beer styles. It is also a good choice in fine-dining restaurants that serve
mostly wine. Blue Heron is in the European Wheat style category along with Blue Moon,
Hoegarden, and Widmer Hefeweisen. The Blue Heron tap handle is a blue pub-style handle with
a magnolia finial. A shield on the tap handle contains a white sticker with the name and logo in
blue.
Pairing Blue Heron with Food Blue Heron’s fruity and spicy flavors match very well with fish, pork, and fruit desserts. Use it as a brazing liquid for pork loin.
